Know the UI Difference between IOS and Android

Introduction

IOS and Android are two of the most popular mobile operating systems used in mobile devices today. While they share many similarities, there are some key differences between the two platforms. First and foremost, the most obvious difference between IOS and Android is the user interface. IOS is Apple’s proprietary operating system, while Android is a free open source platform. As a result, IOS is much more user-friendly and consistent across all Apple products, whereas Android is more customizable and can vary from device to device. Another key difference is the app selection. Apple’s App Store offers a wide variety of apps and games exclusive to Apple products, while Android’s Google Play Store provides access to a large selection of apps and games that are available to all Android devices. In terms of performance, IOS generally outperforms Android due to its optimized hardware and software. Additionally, IOS devices typically receive updates much faster than Android devices. Finally, IOS and Android differ in terms of price. Apple’s products tend to be more expensive due to their sophisticated hardware and software, while Android devices are more affordable.

Alerts

Interestingly, only one tool for alerting the user is described for iOS: Alerts. On Android, we have three of them: Snackbars, Banners, and Dialogs. Snackbars are intended for low-priority messages and do not require any action.

Search

Search functionality is very important for both the platforms, something that is evident from the recent inclusion of "Search bar" in iMessage by Apple.

Different Controls

The only differences between the platforms' controls are visual. It's worth noting that controls are simpler on iOS - checkmarks are used for both radio buttons and checkboxes.These controls have different shapes on the Android.

Back Navigation

In iOS, press "Back" action on the upper-left corner, or slide the screen left to right. In Android, use back button in the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen.

Titles

Human interface design and material design have the same elements under different titles.

Tabs

It's worth noting that iOS doesn't have a control that visually resembles "tabs". Instead, Apple calls for you to use a segmented button to navigate between sister views. On Android, a "flat design" style tab is used for the same display.
